About the photograph:
Rameswaram, Tamil Nadu, India, 2020. As the fourth step of my Indian Seasides project in Tamil Nadu, Rameswaram left a strong impression on me with its quiet atmosphere and the depth of its blue-toned landscapes. From the moment I arrived, the scene revealed itself: a woman in a sari in the foreground, a man standing still in the water, and in the distance a boat completing, within the composition, an invisible triangle with the horizon. In this photograph, I sought a balance of forms, a tension in the lines, and the softness of the light, somewhere between street photography and documentary work. Even now, this image takes me back to that suspended moment, to the serenity I felt by the sea.
